The Eastern Shore Karate Academy offers night classes year round every Monday and Wednesday evening. We offer three classes from a fun beginners class to the more disciplined kids and adults classes. You can find five (5) and six (6) year olds doing competitive drills of punches and kicks, older kids learning self defense or adults finishing a sparring session. We train students in kata's/forms, weapons, self-defense, breaking, and sparring.
The ESKA challenges all students to work hard and we reward them for doing so. Students are promoted through a colored belt system (white, yellow, green, blue, brown, and black). It takes about four (4) months to earn your yellow belt, each belt after yellow takes about a year to earn. Students must meet all requirements before being tested to the next rank. Students are tested three (3) additional times through out each year (about every three (3) months) for stripe promotions. Obtaining the rank of black belt is the goal of most martial artists and that takes about five and a half years.
Students are encouraged and required to maintain satisfactory/above average Academic grades during the school year. As students excel in Martial Arts, nothing less is expected or accepted in the classroom. We acknowledge and reward all students for their achievement in the classroom each marking term.
Students can compete against other students from all over the nation on one of our competition teams. You can become a national or world champion. Students can also be selected to the schools STORM team, which consists of the top students in all areas of leadership, discipline, confidence, and respect.
Our GOAL is not just to teach martial arts, but it instill a positive way of life and good health in all students. Martial arts modes great character that follows students for the rest of their lives. A system that is built on respect, leadership, confidence, discipline, self-esteem, pride, responsibility, honesty and sportsmanship. Martial arts allow individuals to grow within themselves and in life, to interact with others and gain lasting bonds and friendships.
