The ESKA is an Isshinryu (one heart/one way) karate school. The principles and techniques of Isshinryu was founded in 1954 by Grand Master Tatsuo Shimabuku on the island of Okinawa, Japan. Sensei Shinabuku studied both Shorin-Ryu and Goju-Ryu systems. Isshinryu is a combination of the best of these styles and weapons techniques. Isshinryu's main goal is to perfect oneself through physical and mental development. Isshinryu stresses "close-in" techniques that are more practical on the street versus high, flashy kicks for example. The techniques are mostly thrown from natural stances, limiting wasted motion, maintaining and giving you split-second advantages.
